Floraldene
Daymer Bay on the Camel estuary near Trebetherick

Our local guide

Explore Cornwall from Floraldene

We are very lucky to have so many beautiful beaches, places to eat and things to do right on our doorstep. A lot of Cornwall is tide-dependent, so always check the tide times before heading out. And one final tip: go early! The best-known places are much more enjoyable before the crowds arrive.

Beaches

Dunes at Daymer Bay

Daymer Bay

A sheltered family beach inside the estuary, shallow at low tide and glorious for an early-evening swim at high tide.

10-minute walk

Evening sun over the estuary

Polzeath

A brilliant surfing beach with several surf schools; we like to surf early, around 7 to 8am, before the crowds.

One of our favourites for cowrie hunting, rock pooling and crabbing at low tide (can be rough for young swimmers).

Porthilly

Lovely for swimming and paddleboarding at high tide; muddy with strong currents at low tide.

Path through the dunes to the beach

Lundy Bay and Epphaven

At low tide a glorious beach appears; go early for the National Trust car park.

Pentire and The Rumps

A dramatic National Trust headland with views along the North Cornwall coast.
